This 3 part blog post covers Leviathan. First Scripturally, then analyzing possible meanings and phrases, and then finally an overall analysis and inclusion of scope outside of the Old Testament alone. For part one, I lay out the Scriptural references, and analyze some words used prior to any deeper assessment.

Coinciding with the structural upheaval in my life, I have been reading philosophers. Not in any attempt to find meaning, it was coincidental, but ultimately not inconsequential. One thing that all wisdom, contemporary or ancient, tends to agree on is that the overwhelming majority will choose comfort over truth. If you cannot distance yourself from truth, others will distance themselves from you.

"Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you seemeth to be wise in this world, let him become a fool, that he may be wise. For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness. And again, The Lord knoweth the thoughts of the wise, that they are vain."
